Mercedes-Benz Brand Ambassador Guy Kawasaki Discusses the AMG line with Steve Cannon

In our featured video (click for video), Guy Kawasaki, the Mercedes-Benz Brand Ambassador, and former evangelist for the Macintosh division of Apple Computer, interviews Steve Cannon, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, and both discuss the global debuts and all-new Mercedes-Benz vehicles from the showroom floor of the 2015 L.A. Auto Show.

The L.A. Auto Show is ground zero for assessing trends in automotive performance driving, as well as a venue for previewing exciting motor vehicles making their debut on the market. Here prominent marketing influencer and guru Guy Kawasaki interviews Steve Cannon to discuss these exciting new developments as they relate to Mercedes-Benz AMG line.

Guy: “Lets say that you’re going to the Grammy’s. Obviously you can have any car you want from Mercedes-Benz. Do you get driven in a Maybach? Or do you pull up in AMG GTS?”

Steve: “I pull up in a GTS.”

Guy: “Okay” [laughter]

Steve: “For me, I love driving, and I have had the great fortune of doing AMG driving events on some of the best tracks in the country. There is nothing more exhilarating to get in one of these machines, and see just how far you can push them. Most people never understand the full capabilities that would build our cars to. The GTS is one of the most sophisticated AMGs out there. It’s the first purpose-built GTS from the ground up. We often existing Mercedes-Benz products and we build them up for pure-performance. The GTS is built from the ground up.”

Guy: “So is that your daily driver?”

Steve: “I rotate. What’s so nice is that one day I am driving home in a GTE, then it’s a G-Wagon, then it’s a Maybach, or a S-Class, or an S Coupe. It’s kind of funny because I’ve got a lot of kids, so I’ve got my own social media audience. And I know I am driving a hit when they come out and take a picture and post it on Instagram. So I kind of get the thumbs up one whatever I am driving.”

Guy: “So basically everyday it’s good to be Steve Cannon.”

Steve: “It’s good. I am not gonna complain.”

Guy: “So basically everyday it’s good to be Steve Cannon.”

Steve: “I am grateful. It’s good. I am not gonna complain.”

Guy: “So now we know you pull up at the Grammy’s in a GTS. . . If you could have any [other] car which would you pull up in now?”

Steve: “I am grateful. It’s good. I am not gonna complain.”

Steve: “I would go back to the GTS, just because it’s brand new, it’s purpose-built for the track. If you talk to professional drivers, the C-Class is so fun. It’s light. It’s manueverable. Man, you can really have a lot of fun in this car. So it’s not like there is one car to choose to be at the top of the racing food chain. We offer a whole variety. . . pretty fun!”

Guy: “In essence, this is a GTS with a backseat. Total badass!”

Steve: “It looks like our Mercedes-Benz C-Coupe, but it’s a wider body. It’s all new sheet-metal. . . All new transmission. This is a completely different car in every way for pure performance.”

Why is Detailing Important? It’s more than about “looking pretty.”

Auto detailing is a professional, thorough cleaning, polishing and waxing of an automobile, both inside and out, to produce a show-quality level of detail. But more importantly, it helps maintain and protect your finish.

“Remember, we don’t just do cars…we do Trucks, SUV’s and even Boats, too!”

Detailing is not only done to improve the appearance and maintain the “curb appeal” of your vehicle, but also to improve your ownership experience, and to maintain a higher re-sale value. Do you remember when you first got your vehicle, when it was brand new, and looked it’s best? A CarNu detail may be able to bring that moment back! A CarNu detail will help your vehicle look its best!

Interior Detailing

The interior of your vehicle can dry out and break down in the harsh Montana sun. Drying, cracking and fading are common problems associated with improper maintenance. We can help protect your expensive leather interior from harsh UV rays and normal driving wear.

Carpet & Fabric Extracting

Using the correct chemicals makes all the difference! Don’t just guess…take it to the pros at CarNu!
Using the correct chemicals makes all the difference! Don’t just guess…take it to the pros at CarNu!
Our high powered extracting equipment deep cleans debris, dirt, grime and most oily residue spots on carpet & fabric. Not only will this help increase the appeal of your car, but extracting also kills germs & bacteria and helps to eliminate bad odors.

Exterior Detailing

An external detail isn’t just a car wash. There are many things that can damage or discolor your paint job. Iron oxide flakes, more visible on white vehicles as a red dust, come mainly from the constant bombardment of metal brake dust that is in the air. Professional clay treatment can eliminate this as well as other damaging contamination such as tree sap, bug spatter, and bird droppings, which, perhaps surprisingly can cause serious permanent damage to a vehicle’s paint if not removed correctly. Even more surprisingly, several studies* have shown that a dirty car can increase aerodynamic drag, resulting in poor fuel economy, potentially costing YOU money.

Paint Scratch Removal

CarNu’s technicians can remove many surface scratches, swirl marks and scuffs through the use of advanced polishing techniques (ask us about this!). Scratches tend to dull a vehicles paint surface, which opens it to many conditions that can create further damage. If the damage is too severe, we may refer you to our in-house Auto Body Shop.

Paint Protection – Wax

Will give your vehicle an enhanced shine and protection from the sun’s harmful rays. Contrary to some stories, wax doesn’t last forever. Wax must be reapplied every 3 months in order to be effective. In harsher environments, it may need to be reapplied more frequently.

Paint Sealant

Paint sealant is a synthetic polymer, which actually bonds to your painted surface providing the very best protection and shine possible. Paint sealant should be re-applied every 6 months to a year.

General Car Care Tips for a Healthy Paint Finish and a Happy Wallet

1. Avoid scratches chips and dings when possible.

Scratches and paint chips are the most common and most harmful enemy to your car’s finish. The bottom line is that avoiding scratches is often the secret to keeping your car looking like the day you bought it. Hint: don’t follow flat bed trucks closely – debris often falls off the bed, even if it’s not readily apparent. And we’re not just talking about big scratches; dirt and grime, rubbed in while washing or drying, will act like sandpaper and dull your car’s paint. There is one basic rule, which will guide you whenever you touch the surface of your automobile: Anything that comes in contact with your car’s finish should be soft, clean, and NOT reused from wash to wash.

2. Avoid harsh elements and impacts.

Often, especially in the harsh Montana sun and wind, this means storing the car in a garage or covered area. If you can’t do this, the use of a car cover is highly recommended. A vehicle that is constantly exposed to sunlight and other environmental hazards will deteriorate quicker and require significantly more cosmetic maintenance.

3. Wax, wax, wax. Then wax some more.

In addition to providing gloss and depth, wax or paint sealant will also protect your car from the weather-related elements, including sunlight, and many other elements like bug splats and bird droppings.

4. Regular inspections.

A good habit is to make regular inspections of your interior condition and exterior paint finish. It’s far better to head off a potential problem, than to wait until it fully materializes and has to be repaired.

Bloomberg Business : “The 2017 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Will Try to Give You the Best of All Worlds” — August 21, 2015.

“Mercedes has announced the newest versions of its top-selling C-Class line, which will make their debut at the Frankfurt motor show and go on sale in summer 2016.”

“The 2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 Coupe and Coupe S version are special not only because of their massive power (503 hp in the S) and speed (zero-60 mph in 3.8 seconds) but because they’re the latest members of a growing group of so-called have-it-all cars: luxury sedans basically squished into the body of a coupe.”

“The idea is that you get the elegant design and space of a posh towncar, with the athleticism of a sports car.”

“Foremost in this class are such vehicles as the BMW M4 Coupe, the Audi RS5, and the Cadillac ATS-VTK. The new C63AMG fits right in, with a softly sloped roofline and creature comforts on a par with towncars with bodies far larger than its gymnast-compact frame. But its AMG pedigree makes it aggressive in a way no sedan can touch.”

“The C63AMG stands out as well in this pocket of newcomers as the only V8 turbo in the group. Its 4.0-liter V8 engine has two turbochargers placed square between its cylinder banks in a special configuration called a ‘hot inside V.’ Hot.”
